Good placements, infrastructure, and campus life define IIT BHU.
Placements: In our course, there are a total of 120 students, out of which 80 students are placed, approximately 66.67%. The highest package is about 45 lakh, and the lowest is 8 lakh, with an average around 16 lakh. Many companies visited the campus, including Microsoft, GAIL, NHPC, among others. These companies offered some of the highest packages. In my course, very few students got internships—only 8 out of 120—and most went to Microsoft. My course is Mining, where we excavate minerals and metals from the earth. The top roles include mining inspector, blasting engineer, ventilation design engineer, etc.
Infrastructure: Our department is 102 years old, so the mining department building is old but beautiful. The classrooms are well-maintained, and there is a world-class lab for experiments and projects. Our library has many books, and the Wi-Fi is decent. The hostel provides basic necessities like tables, chairs, and wardrobes. The mess food is good with a changing menu every day. We also have a health center that provides free treatment to students, and the campus offers excellent sports facilities.
Faculty: Our teachers are well-qualified with great teaching experience in their field, many from IITs. In every college, the course curriculum is old, but the practical knowledge and labs make us industry-ready. The semester exams are moderate, and due to supportive teachers, passing the examinations is easy.
Other: I chose this course because it's easier to get a government job after qualifying GATE, especially in the government mining sector. I don't think any changes are required in this course because everything is good. IIT BHU hosts many fests and events like Spardha, Kashiyatra, TECHNEX, etc. The campus is open, allowing everyone to visit. Scholarships are provided by our alumni and the government. Extracurricular activities like general championships, sports days, and summer camps are also held.

It is one of the oldest engineering colleges.
Placements: Our college placements are quite good. Approximately 95% of students are placed. The salary package offered is 35 LPA.
Infrastructure: All of the hostels at IIT-BHU are excellent. The hostel for freshers and second-year students is like a 5-star hotel. The old hostels are inferior to the new ones because the oldest hostels date from the early twentieth century. Hostels are average.
Faculty: All faculty members at IIT-BHU are good except for some of them. The curriculum at IIT-BHU is excellent. Exams are relatively simple compared to other IITs. You should only need to study for 7 days before the exam to easily get a 9 on the CPI. Overall, the exam is satisfactory.
Other: I chose this course because I was allotted it. The best thing about our course is that it is too simple with only five subjects to study.

Overall, a nice college for placements as well as facilities.
Placements: Our college provides on-campus placement in which the students can sit in their final year (before the final semester). In placement 2024-25, the highest package in our college is ₹1.65 crore. Top recruiters this year are Flipkart, Google, Oracle, Accenture Japan, etc. In the mining department, usually around 60-70% of students get placed, and the average salary is usually 12-13 LPA. Top recruiters in mining are Tata Steel, JSW, and Vedanta.
Infrastructure: In our department, every classroom is equipped with smart boards and projectors. Multiple labs are there having modern machines. Every hostel and department in our college has Wi-Fi facilities provided by the college. Every room of the hostels has beds, study tables, and chairs. Each hostel has its own mess, and the quality of food given in the mess is good. There are 2 sattvik messes also. Almost all sports are present in our college. Also, there are 2 gyms. The student activity center is there for indoor games and the gym.
Faculty: Almost all the professors in our college are Ph.D. holders. They have good knowledge about the subjects, and some of them are very friendly and approachable. The course curriculum is well structured, giving knowledge about not only the respective department but also some institute core subjects that are also mandatory for all, like engineering mathematics, engineering drawing, fundamentals of electrical engineering, etc. The difficulty of exams is moderate, but it also depends on the professors. Some professor always set difficult papers.

Poor infrastructure, faculty not that good, excellent environment, a lot of opportunities.
Placements: Core mining offers slightly low initial package (around 6-7 LPA) while there are numerous non core opportunities available which offers a package ranging between 6- 20 LPA, these non core opportunities include software development, data analytics, business analytics and other managerial level posts.
Infrastructure: B.H.U. Being one of the oldest and the grandest university of india has ancient buildings, though the new construction offers a sigh of relief, but the old ones resemble temples and some are in a pathetic condition but the overall campus is good, it houses a petrol pump, radio station post office, hospital, lake etc. And there will always be new corners to explore.
Faculty: At this point I would suggest you to lower down your expectations, being an IIT people normally exoect highly qualified proffs and well designed curriculum unfortunately that's not the case with this one, most of them don't even take classes and the ones who do are not that much of exoerts in their subjects above that there are subjects like humanities, ethics etc. Which are compulsory fir everyone and a waste of time, since more than 70% students go for non core jobs the curriculum turns out to be useless, only thing this department offers you is time, you don't have to attend most of the classes, giving you enormous time to pursue other interests amd studies. Recently students are allowed to pick up courses of different branches which is a good move.
Other: The best part of this college is that it offers you unlimited freedom, boys hostel don't have timing restrictions at all, you are free to put up an AC or a heater in your room, bikes are allowed and many more. It offers you one of the best mess in india. numerous fest and events are organized around the calendar cultural (kashiyatra), sports (spardha), technical (technex) witnessing an enormous participation Campus houses different departments other than engineering which leads to a lot of politics amd riots, although IIT having a separate administration is most of the times isolated from such activities. Around 25% of students with low income can avail scholarship here, apart from that loan is easily sanctioned. This college also offers you a chance to pursue or develop a hobby through its various clubs like music club, photography club, arts club, astronomy club, economy club, robotics and many more. Hyderabad GATE is the one in the closest proximity from the hostel amd it has a sufficient market size to fulfill your day to day needs, the main GATE however lies 3km away from the hostel zone but there is a campus bus that ferry students to and fro also there are many auto rickshaw, so that u won't have any trouble commuting even at odd timimgs.

IIT BHU is much better than NIRF ranking. Good option if you are opting branches above civil.
Placements: I got placed in CITI corporation, Pune in the campus placements. Till now, the highest salary offered to the students was 13.5 LPA. Out of 75 students, only 45 are eligible to sit for non-core companies. 20 students got placed, and the average salary offered to the students was 9 LPA till now. If you are good at coding, surely you will get placement. Sometimes, few companies also refuse to take the interview. But still, there are a lot of options. If you are interested in mining, then go to ISM, because there CIL only take 30 to 35 students. In the other college, they just come and do the formalities. Last year, only 12 students received the offer letter from CIL in IIT BHU. But in Dhanbad, they selected 32 students. Vedanta too visits our campus, and they also recruit approximately ten students. So, overall, if you want to go to mining field, go to ISM, but if you want overall development and interested in the non-core sector, come to BHU.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is neither too good nor too bad. I love the old building. In the new building, you need to share your room with two other guys, and also the rooms are not fully ventilated. But the old building is better in comparison to them. Bathrooms are neither too good nor bad and are cleaned daily. From this year, IIT BHU has started its internet facility, and the net speed ranges between 2 Mbps to 3 Mbps in Wi-Fi and approximately 8 Mbps to 9 Mbps in LAN. There is no good place to eat on the campus, and the only place to hang out is Vishwanath Temple inside the BHU, which has a lot of good restaurants inside it. There is always an incident where BHU BA faculty interfere in your matters. Mostly, such event occurs when IIT BHU organises DJ night. A few days back, BA students were refused to get entry into the event, and therefore they protested and beat IIT students. Once Mohit Chauhan was called for a night, but BHU VC did not allow us. Overall, you have high chances to get a girlfriend because BHU has its women faculty and these girls prefer IIT guys. All the departments have Wi-Fi facility so that you can enjoy the net attending boring lectures. Some teachers are good, and they teach well. But some are below average. The course curriculum of our branch is not rigorous. We have good sports facility, and in case we miss few, BHU has that facility. For example, squash is part of BHU. The library facility is very good and the department library is available 24*7.
Faculty: Some of the faculty are very helpful; some are not. Earlier it was part of BHU, so most of the employees work as typical university staff, and they are not much interested in solving your problem. The class notes and other material are sent through Gmail. Industry exposure is quite good because it is easy to get mining field trip, but it is hard to get a job core internship. You have to work hard in networking to get one. The curriculum is good, and about 15% is focused on humanities.
Other: If you are expecting to get an average salary of 9 LPA and above, then don't think like that. Most of the companies don't prefer mining engineer but the number of companies visiting the campus is always high, and the top branches students get placed in initial 2-3 days. So companies don't have many options but to interview you. You can get a job easily in coding field and also you can get mining engineering job. Every year, approximately 45 to 50 students get placement from mining out of 80 to 90 students, but the students who were not placed is because of their fault. The course structure of mining is very good, and you can easily pass with 8 pointers if you study overnight.
