Challenging the JEE Main 2026 Final Answer Key
Candidates cannot challenge the JEE Main final keys. The answer Ids and the question Ids mentioned on the final answer keys will be the final information. Based on the answers on the final keys, the raw marks of the candidates will be calculated for the JEE Main result preparation.
NTA is not going to accept any further challenge on the key. The final keys are released only after considering the challenges of the students against the provisional keys, which are released a few days after the exam is held.
Dropped and Bonus Questions in JEE Main 2026 Session 2 Final Keys
After the review of provisional JEE Mains answer key, NTA will release the details of dropped questions.
Here is How Bonus Marks Are Awarded
In JEE Main 2026, bonus marks are awarded when the National Testing Agency (NTA) officially drops a question from the final answer key due to errors, ambiguity, or multiple correct answers. If a question is dropped, all candidates who appeared in that specific shift are awarded +4 marks, regardless of whether they attempted the question.
Check below how the nosus marks are awarded:
- Dropped Questions: If a question is found to be incorrect or has no correct options, NTA drops it. In this scenario, every candidate from that shift receives a full +4 marks, acting as bonus marks.
- Corrected Answer: If the NTA changes the official answer from the provisional to the final key instead of dropping the question, only candidates who marked the newly corrected option will receive the +4 marks.
JEE Main 2026 Result is Based on the Final Answer Key
The answers given on the JEE Mains final answer keys will be used for preparing the results of JEE Main 2026. The candidates can use their final answer keys and the response sheets to cross-check their answers. This will give them the exact raw score that NTA will use to convert into percentile scores.
The JEE Mains result will not display the raw score, but will show the percentile. The formula that NTA uses to convert raw scores into a JEE Main 2026 percentile is:
-
Total Percentile (T1P): 100 × (Number of candidates in the session with a raw score equal to or less than T1) / (Total number of candidates in the session)
-
Physics Percentile (M1P): 100 × (Number of candidates in the session with a raw score equal to or less than M1 in Mathematics) / (Total number of candidates in the session)
-
Chemistry Percentile (P1P): 100 × (Number of candidates in the session with a raw score equal to or less than P1 in Physics) / (Total number of candidates in the session)
-
Mathematics Percentile (C1P): 100 × (Number of candidates in the session with a raw score equal to or less than C1 in Chemistry) / (Total number of candidates in the session)
