Marine Engineering: Eligibility Criteria (UG & PG)

For Undergraduate (UG) Degree:

Candidates must pass the senior secondary examination or its equivalent with at least 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM).

- They should have secured 50% marks in English, either in Class X or in Class XII.

- In some marine engineering institutes, a minimum or maximum age limit may or may not be a requirement. However, in some institutions, it may have.

- He or she should have secured a minimum of 60% aggregate marks in their bachelor studies.

- For the category of SC/ST and handicapped, the candidate should have scored a minimum of 55% during their previous degree course.

In marine engineering, several exams are conducted by universities at national and university level for UG and PG degree courses. In GATE, all the papers will have a total of 65 questions carrying 100 marks. Of those, 10 questions out of a total of 15 marks are in General Aptitude (GA). The paper comprises Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ), which carry 1 or 2 marks each, as well as Numerical Answer Questions, also carrying 1 or 2 marks each in all papers and sections.
