UGC NET 2024 Paper 2 (English) Analysis (Shift 2, Jan 7)

Candidates can check below the Paper 2 (Shift 2) difficulty level, topics with maximum weightage, etc. according to the students' feedback:

Q:   Does the difficulty level of the UGC NET question paper differ for different shifts?

A:
The difficulty level of the UGC NET question paper may differ for different shifts or sessions. This is because the question paper is set by different experts for different shifts and they may vary in their interpretation of the syllabus and the difficulty level of the questions. However, the National Testing Agency NTA which conducts the UGC NET exam, takes steps to ensure that the overall difficulty level of the question paper is the same for all the shifts. This is done through a process of equating the scores of the candidates appearing in different shifts. Equating is a statistical process that is used to adjust the scores of the candidates taking into account the differences in the difficulty level of the question papers in different shifts. This ensures that the scores of the candidates are comparable and that no candidate is at a disadvantage due to the variation in the difficulty level of the question paper. In summary, while the difficulty level of the UGC NET question paper may differ for different shifts, the NTA takes steps to ensure that the overall difficulty level is the same. Candidates should focus on their preparation and not worry too much about the difficulty level of the question paper for their particular shift.

Q:   How many questions are asked in UGC NET Paper 1 exam?

A:
UGC NET Paper-1 consists of 50 multiple-choice questions (MCQs), each carrying 2 marks. The total marks for Paper-1 are 100. The questions in Paper-1 are designed to test the teaching and research aptitude, reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking, and general awareness of the candidate. The questions in Paper-1 are divided into ten sections, with each section containing five questions. The sections cover various topics such as teaching aptitude, research aptitude, reading comprehension, communication, reasoning, data interpretation, information and communication technology, people and environment, higher education system, and governance, polity, and administration. It is important to note that Paper-1 is a common paper that is mandatory for all candidates appearing for the UGC NET exam, irrespective of their subject or discipline. The Paper-1 score is used to determine the eligibility of the candidate for the post of Assistant Professor and for awarding Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) to eligible candidates.

Q:   How many question are asked in UGC NET Paper 2 exam?

A:
UGC NET Paper-2 consists of 100 multiple-choice questions (MCQs), each carrying 2 marks. The total marks for Paper-2 are 200. The questions in Paper-2 are based on the subject selected by the candidate. The UGC NET syllabus for Paper-2 is different for each subject, and the questions are designed to test the subject-specific knowledge and expertise of the candidate. The questions in Paper-2 are divided into two parts - Part A and Part B. Part A contains 10 questions, each carrying 2 marks, and is designed to test the reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking, and general awareness of the candidate. Part B contains 90 questions, each carrying 2 marks, and is based on the subject selected by the candidate. Candidates are required to attempt all the questions in Paper-2 within a duration of 3 hours. The questions in Paper-2 are designed to test the in-depth knowledge and understanding of the subject by the candidate. It is important to note that Paper-2 is a subject-specific paper, and candidates are expected to have a thorough understanding of the subject to score well in the exam. Therefore, candidates should prepare for Paper-2 as per the UGC NET syllabus for the subject they have chosen and practice solving the previous year's question papers to enhance their preparation and improve their chances of success in the exam.

Q:   When should I start solving the UGC NET previous year's question paper?

A:
It is advisable to start solving UGC NET question papers as part of your exam preparation at least 2-3 months before the exam date. This will give you sufficient time to practice and revise the concepts you have learned and develop a strategy for time management and improving your speed and accuracy. Solving UGC NET question papers should be a gradual process, starting with the easier questions and gradually moving towards the more difficult ones. You can also use the UGC NET question papers to identify the important topics and prioritize your preparation accordingly. It is important to solve the UGC NET question papers in a simulated environment, similar to the actual exam, to get a realistic experience. You should also time yourself while solving the question papers to improve your speed and accuracy and develop a strategy for managing time during the actual exam. Therefore, starting to solve UGC NET question papers early in your preparation and gradually increasing the difficulty level can help you to improve your chances of success in the exam.
