How to prepare for RRB NTPC Mathematics

Preparing for Mathematics section is not a difficult task as it looks like. Three to four hours of dedicated study regularly can enable candidates to easily sail through this section. In RRB NTPC exam, candidates are not required to prepare for higher level Mathematics. Preparing the topics upto Class 12th is more than enough. The Mathematics section of RRB NTPC basically assesses a candidate’s calculative skills. Therefore, it is important that candidates must have all the formulas and shortcuts on their fingertips. Candidates must not memorise the formulas. They should prepare the topics that are difficult, equally allot time for easy topics. Candidates can check below a few tips and tricks to prepare for RRB NTPC Mathematics section.

  • Assign three to four hours daily to this subject
  • Practice questions from previous years’ question papers
  • Start with basic topics such as Number System, Percentages and Ration & Proportion.
  • To clear concepts, candidates need to practice problems in large numbers. Make a timetable and practice lot of problems.
  • Solve variety of questions from a topic
  • Follow a standard book that will clear your concepts and covers the entire syllabus.
  • Start with one topic at a time.
  • Learn important formulas without them candidates will not be able to solve problems.
  • Work on your speed and accuracy. The best way to work upon these is learning tables, squares, cubes, square roots, cube roots, etc.
  • Make a list of important questions and short notes. This will help in revision and you will not forget.
  • Analyse your performance after RRB NTPC mock tests.
  • Practice quizzes and mock tests.
