Though the word ‘NTPC’ is common between the two, however, the full forms and recruitments are different. Where NTPC stands for National Thermal Power Corporation and is related to the thermal power generation company, while RRB NTPC is an exam to select candidates for Non-Technical Popular Categories, conducted by the Railway Recruitment Boards. NTPC

National Thermal Power Corporation or NTPC is a public sector undertaking working towards energising India’s power growth since 1975. It is the largest thermal power generating company in India in terms of installed capacity and output. NTPC is also engaged in coal mining, renewable energy, power distribution, power trading and equipment manufacturing.

RRB NTPC Full Form

RRB NTPC is the exam conducted by RRBs for recruitment to Non-Technical Popular Categories undergraduate and graduate posts such as Guard, Clerks, Assistant and Typist, Apprentice.

NTPC

For recruitment of professional personnel in NTPC’s executive cadre including executive trainees, the selection is made on an All-India basis. All such posts to be filled are duly notified through press advertisements, company’s website, company’s notice board, Central Govt. /State Govt. /PSUs where suitable candidates with the required expertise can apply.

Fresh graduates are also hired in different disciplines under Executive Trainee (ET) Recruitment Scheme. The freshers are hired in three areas-Engineering Executive Trainees, Finance Executive Trainees & HR Executive Trainees. Assistant Chemist trainees are also hired in the area of Chemistry under this scheme.

NTPC hires Engineering Executive Trainees every year through GATE scores. Hiring of fresh engineers/graduates through campus recruitment drive is also carried out in specific cases. Experienced persons are also hired for new/diversified business areas such as Hydro, Mining, Non-conventional energy, other consultancy services etc. In specific cases, wherein the requirement is urgent, the vacancy is filled through deputation from Central/State Governments/ Electricity Boards and Public Sector Organizations.

NTPC also inducts fresh Diploma and ITI holders and Artisan Trainee, respectively. Certain recruitment drives are also carried out at different non-executive levels from time to time on a need basis.

Through RRB NTPC exam candidates are selected to the posts of Junior Clerk cum Typist, Accounts Clerk cum Typist, Junior Time Keeper, Trains Clerk, Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Traffic Assistant, Goods Guard, Senior Commercial cum Ticket Clerk, Senior Clerk cum Typist, Junior Account Assistant cum Typist, Senior Time Keeper, Commercial Apprentice and Station Master in various Zonal Railways and Production Units of Indian Railways.

RRB NTPC Full Form vs NTPC: Selection Process

Engineering Executive Trainees in NTPC are hired through GATE results followed by aptitude/behavioral tests, group discussion and personal interview. In other areas, trainees are hired through All-India selection tests followed by group discussion and interview.

The selection process in the case of lateral recruitment comprises a selection test followed by an interview or is done through the interview only depending upon the number of applications received and the requirement of the post.

The selection process of fresh Diploma holders, ITI holders and Artisan Trainee primarily comprise written tests (online/offline) followed by physical/trade/skill test, which are only qualifying in nature.
