UGC NET e-certificate 2023 was released by the University Grants Commission (UGC) for the NTA NET December cycle on February 27, 2024. The UGC NET result was announced by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on January 19, 2024. The UGC NET e-certificate will be released on the UGC NET certificate portal and the candidates will be able to download their certificates through the candidates' login using their application number and date of birth. 

Candidates qualifying for the exam for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) can pursue research in the chosen subject. The validity of UGC NET certificate for Assistant Professors is valid for a lifetime. However, the UGC NET JRF award letter is valid for four years from the date when it is issued.

What is UGC NET E-Certificate?

On qualifying UGC NET exam, NTA issues an award letter/certificate to appreciate the qualified candidates. This is an authentic digital copy that is approved by UGC which ensures that candidates have qualified NTA NET exam and are eligible to obtain the UGC NET certificate and UGC NET JRF Certificate. Earlier, UGC used to release the UGC NET Certificate after seven to eight months after the declaration of the UGC NET result.

How to Download UGC NET Certificate?

The steps for the UGC NET Certificate download have been given below for the candidates. Candidates are required to enter the roll number or application number to download the NTA UGC NET e-Certificate 2023.

Q:   What are the exam day guideline for UGC NET?

A:

The candidates who are going to appear for the UGC NET 2024 exam must check the exam day guidelines:

  • Candidates must reach the test centre as per the reporting time mentioned on the admit card;
  • Candidates should read the instructions on the admit card carefully and follow them during the exam.
  • No candidate will be allowed to enter the exam hall without the admit card and photo ID proof.
  • Candidates will not be allowed to enter the exam centre after 9.00 am in the first shift and after 2.30 pm in the second shift.
  • Candidates should report at the exam room at the centres by 9.15 am in the first shift and by 2.45 pm in the second shift.
  • Candidates must not leave the UGC NET exam hall before the paper ends.
  • On completion of the paper, candidates must wait for the instructions from the invigilator and must not right away get up from their seat to leave the exam hall.
  • Candidates wearing special attire such as burqa, hijab, turban, etc. must reach the exam centre early for thorough checking.
  • Candidates should sit on the seat indicating their roll numbers only. The candidature will stand cancelled if candidates change their room or seat on their own.
  • Candidates must ensure that the UGC NET question paper 2023 available on the computer is as per their opted subject. In case otherwise, candidates must bring the same to the notice of the invigilator.
  • Calculations and rough work are to be done only in the rough sheet provided at the centres.
  • No candidate should involve in any unfair practices during the exam.

Q:   Is there any dress code for UGC NET exam?

A:

There is no recommended dress code by the National Testing Agency (NTA) and Univeristy Grants Commission (UGC) in order to appear for the UGC NET. However, the candidates takig the exam are advised to do the following thing before appearing for the exam:

  • Attire: Candidates should not wear shoes or footwear with thick soles. Also, candidates must not wear clothes with large buttons to the test centre.  
  • Personal belongings: Candidates should not carry any personal belongings such as mobile phones, purses or electronic devices such as calculators inside the test centre. Exam authority will not be responsible for the safe keep of the personal belongings of candidates.

Q:   What are the documents need to be carried on the UGC NET exam day?

A:

The candidates have to carry the enlisted documents to exam centre inorder to appear for the UGC NET exam. Documents and things that candidates must carry to the allotted UGC NET exam centre 202) are mentioned below:

  • UGC NET admit card: Candidates can download the UGC NET admit card 2024 from the official website of the exam using their registration ID and date of birth.
  • One passport size photograph: Candidates need to carry one passport size photograph same as uploaded on the UGC NET application form 2024 for pasting on the attendance sheet.
  • Photo ID proof: Candidates must also carry a valid and original photo ID proof to the test centre. It may be noted that photocopies of the IDs even if attested or on mobile phones will not be considered. Documents that candidates can carry as the ID proof are PAN Card/ Driving License/ Voter ID/ Passport/ Aadhaar Card (with photograph)/ Aadhaar Enrolment No/ Ration Card

Q:   What if I reach the UGC NET exam centre after exam begins?

A:
If you reach the UGC NET exam center after the exam begins, you will not be allowed to enter the examination hall. The reporting time and GATE closing time are mentioned on the UGC NET City Intimation Slip. Candidates are advised to reach the exam center well before the reporting time to avoid any last-minute hassles. It is important to note that no candidate will be allowed to enter the examination hall after the GATE closing time under any circumstances. Therefore, candidates should plan their travel accordingly and factor in any possible delays such as traffic, etc. To avoid reaching late. If a candidate misses the UGC NET exam due to any reason, they will not be allowed to appear for the exam on a later date. They will have to wait for the next exam cycle to apply and appear for the exam.

Q:   At what time should I report at the UGC NET exam centre?

A:

The reporting time for the UGC NET exam varies depending on the shift and the exam center allotted to you. The exam is conducted in two shifts: the first shift starts at 9:00 AM and the second shift starts at 3:00 PM. Candidates are advised to reach the exam center at least one hour before the start of the exam. This is to ensure that you have enough time for the verification process and to avoid any last-minute rush or delays. The reporting time mentioned on your UGC NET admit card is the time by which you should reach the exam center. It is important to note that candidates who report late may not be allowed to enter the exam center, and will be disqualified from the exam. Therefore, it is advisable to plan your travel in advance and reach the exam center well before the reporting time mentioned on your admit card to avoid any last-minute issues or delays. Also, make sure to carry all the required documents, including your UGC NET admit card and a valid photo ID proof, to the exam center for verification purposes.

  • On the homepage, candidates will have to log in after selecting the institution and captcha code
  • Candidates will then have to select UGC-NET from the dropdown list
  • Click the ‘Proceed’ button
  • Enter the Application Number (12-digit number) or Roll Number (Alphanumeric Number), date of birth, exam session, and captcha code.

What to do If I am Unable to Download UGC NET Certificate?

If any candidate is unable to download their UGC NET certificates, they should immediately send an email request to ecertificate@nta.ac.in along with the following documents:

  • Copy of UGC NET Admit Card and UGC NET Result (scorecard)
  • Postgraduate marks sheet (All Semester/ Consolidated) and degree
  • Certifications stating the university or degree affiliated with UGC or AIU at the time of your post-graduation enrolment
  • SC/ ST/ PWD/ OBC (NCL) certificates (if applicable)
  • Latest OBC (NCL) certificate as per the central list of NCBC (if applicable)
  • Certificate of Research Experience from the approved authority (if applicable)
  • Ex-serviceman / actual service certificate (if applicable)

UGC NET Dec Certificate 2023: Important Points Related to Documents

The important points related to UGC NET certificate documents are given below:

  • All the certificates must be attested by a gazetted officer with an official stamp bearing his/her name, designation, and official address
  • The certificates, which are in languages other than Hindi and English, may require to be translated into Hindi or English and attested by the issuing authority of the original certificates
  • It is required to send all these documents in a single PDF file only
  • The request mail should be addressed to Senior Director, NTA Office
  • All the documents should be arranged in the same order as mentioned above
  • The attached documents should be easily visible

Preparation of UGC NET Certificate/JRF Letter

The process of preparation for the UGC NET certificate/JRF letter is given below:

  • Total slots are allocated to different categories as per the reservation policy of the Government of India
  • In order to be considered for UGC NET Certificate, candidates must appear for both Paper 1 and 2 and score the minimum qualifying marks as given below:

UGC NET Certificate 2023: Important Points

The important points related to the UGC NET certificate 2023 are given below:

  • The eligibility for Assistant Professor or for Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor will depend on the performance of the candidate in both the papers of UGC NET in aggregate. Candidates qualifying for Assistant Professor will not be considered for the award of JRF
  • Candidates who qualify for the UGC NET eligibility exam for Assistant Professor will be governed by the rules and regulations
  • The candidates who qualify for the award of JRF are eligible to pursue research in the subject of their post-graduation or in a related subject and are also eligible for Assistant Professor
  • The universities, institutions, IITs, and other national organizations may select the JRF awardees for full-time research work in accordance with the procedure prescribed by them

What if UGC NET Certificate is not Issued?

In the case of non-receipt of the NET certificate, candidates are advised to correspond with/contact the Head, NET Bureau, UGC, South Campus, University of Delhi, Benito Juarez Marg., New Delhi 110 021.

In their cover letter, they must state their Roll No., the date of UGC-NET in which they have appeared, and UGC-Ref. No. (In a case known to them). In case, they have not submitted the attested copies of their documents earlier, they may do so with the cover letter duly signed by them.
