Q:   What is the exam shift timing for UGC NET exam?

The UGC NET exam is conducted in two shifts morning and evening. The NTA (National Testing Agency) will conduct the December session exam in more than 200 centres across India in several districts. The exam shift timing of the UGC NET 2024 exam is as follows: a) First Shift - 9.00 am to 12.00 pm b) Second Shift: 3.00 pm to 6.00 pm The candidates are advised to report to the exam centre 30 minutes before the GATE closing time to avoid any mishap at the exam centre. UGC NET EWS Certificate: Eligibility Criteria

For candidates who are qualified to receive the UGC NET EWS certificate, the government has established a set of eligibility requirements. Candidates must carefully review the requirements for the UGC NET EWS certificate. The following are the requirements to obtain an EWS certificate for UGC NET:

  • Candidates with a family income of less than 8 lakhs per year only those candidates come under the SC, ST, or OBC reservation programme
  • The income that was mentioned above includes income from all types of sources, like salary, business, agriculture, and many others

Candidates' families who own any of the following assets are not eligible to receive the UGC NET EWS Certificate:

  • 5 acres or more of agricultural land
  • 1000 square foot residential apartment feet and above
  • A 100-square-foot residential lot inside recognised municipalities, yards, and higher
  • A 200 square-foot residential lot yards and higher outside of the notified towns
  • Candidates' families who live in different cities and places will also be included while applying for the property and land holding test to check the EWS status eligibility.
  • For this purpose, "family" refers to the individual requesting the benefit of the reservation, his or her parents, siblings under the age of 18, as well as his or her spouse and children should be minor (under the age of 18 years.)

Note: If a candidate is found guilty, the UGC NET EWS certificate will be revoked.

Q:   What are the exam day guideline for UGC NET?

A:

The candidates who are going to appear for the UGC NET 2024 exam must check the exam day guidelines:

  • Candidates must reach the test centre as per the reporting time mentioned on the admit card;
  • Candidates should read the instructions on the admit card carefully and follow them during the exam.
  • No candidate will be allowed to enter the exam hall without the admit card and photo ID proof.
  • Candidates will not be allowed to enter the exam centre after 9.00 am in the first shift and after 2.30 pm in the second shift.
  • Candidates should report at the exam room at the centres by 9.15 am in the first shift and by 2.45 pm in the second shift.
  • Candidates must not leave the UGC NET exam hall before the paper ends.
  • On completion of the paper, candidates must wait for the instructions from the invigilator and must not right away get up from their seat to leave the exam hall.
  • Candidates wearing special attire such as burqa, hijab, turban, etc. must reach the exam centre early for thorough checking.
  • Candidates should sit on the seat indicating their roll numbers only. The candidature will stand cancelled if candidates change their room or seat on their own.
  • Candidates must ensure that the UGC NET question paper 2023 available on the computer is as per their opted subject. In case otherwise, candidates must bring the same to the notice of the invigilator.
  • Calculations and rough work are to be done only in the rough sheet provided at the centres.
  • No candidate should involve in any unfair practices during the exam.

Q:   Is there any dress code for UGC NET exam?

A:

There is no recommended dress code by the National Testing Agency (NTA) and Univeristy Grants Commission (UGC) in order to appear for the UGC NET. However, the candidates takig the exam are advised to do the following thing before appearing for the exam:

  • Attire: Candidates should not wear shoes or footwear with thick soles. Also, candidates must not wear clothes with large buttons to the test centre.  
  • Personal belongings: Candidates should not carry any personal belongings such as mobile phones, purses or electronic devices such as calculators inside the test centre. Exam authority will not be responsible for the safe keep of the personal belongings of candidates.

Q:   What are the documents need to be carried on the UGC NET exam day?

A:

The candidates have to carry the enlisted documents to exam centre inorder to appear for the UGC NET exam. Documents and things that candidates must carry to the allotted UGC NET exam centre 202) are mentioned below:

  • UGC NET admit card: Candidates can download the UGC NET admit card 2024 from the official website of the exam using their registration ID and date of birth.
  • One passport size photograph: Candidates need to carry one passport size photograph same as uploaded on the UGC NET application form 2024 for pasting on the attendance sheet.
  • Photo ID proof: Candidates must also carry a valid and original photo ID proof to the test centre. It may be noted that photocopies of the IDs even if attested or on mobile phones will not be considered. Documents that candidates can carry as the ID proof are PAN Card/ Driving License/ Voter ID/ Passport/ Aadhaar Card (with photograph)/ Aadhaar Enrolment No/ Ration Card

Q:   What if I reach the UGC NET exam centre after exam begins?

A:
If you reach the UGC NET exam center after the exam begins, you will not be allowed to enter the examination hall. The reporting time and GATE closing time are mentioned on the UGC NET City Intimation Slip. Candidates are advised to reach the exam center well before the reporting time to avoid any last-minute hassles. It is important to note that no candidate will be allowed to enter the examination hall after the GATE closing time under any circumstances. Therefore, candidates should plan their travel accordingly and factor in any possible delays such as traffic, etc. To avoid reaching late. If a candidate misses the UGC NET exam due to any reason, they will not be allowed to appear for the exam on a later date. They will have to wait for the next exam cycle to apply and appear for the exam.

Q:   At what time should I report at the UGC NET exam centre?

A:

The reporting time for the UGC NET exam varies depending on the shift and the exam center allotted to you. The exam is conducted in two shifts: the first shift starts at 9:00 AM and the second shift starts at 3:00 PM. Candidates are advised to reach the exam center at least one hour before the start of the exam. This is to ensure that you have enough time for the verification process and to avoid any last-minute rush or delays. The reporting time mentioned on your UGC NET admit card is the time by which you should reach the exam center. It is important to note that candidates who report late may not be allowed to enter the exam center, and will be disqualified from the exam. Therefore, it is advisable to plan your travel in advance and reach the exam center well before the reporting time mentioned on your admit card to avoid any last-minute issues or delays. Also, make sure to carry all the required documents, including your UGC NET admit card and a valid photo ID proof, to the exam center for verification purposes.

Steps to get UGC NET EWS Certificate?

Candidates can submit an application to the state government either online or offline for the EWS Certificate. Visit the official website of the issuing body if you're applying for the UGC NET EWS certificate online. The Indian government selects the organisations that are authorised to issue the UGC NET EWS certificates.

Candidates need to get the application form from the issuing authority to use an offline option. The candidates can also get the application format from the official website to apply for the online application. It is important to completely fill out the EWS certificate of the UGC NET application form.

 UGC NET EWS Certificate (Documents Required)

Students must submit all required documentation for their EWS certificate for the UGC NET when completing the application. Following is a list of necessary paperwork for the UGC NETT EDWS Certificate.

 The NTA postponed the UGC NET Dec session exam for January 15, 2025 due to Pongal, Makar Sankranti and other festivals. The revsied dates were released by the NTA. Now, the January 15 exam was conducted on January 21 (morning shift) and January 27, 2025 in the evening shift.
