IIT JAM 2025 exam pattern has been notified and mentioned on the JAM 2025 official website. As per the latest update on JAM 2025, the exam will be held by IIT Delhi on February 2, 2025, in two shifts ie., morning and afternoon shifts. JAM 2025 exam will be held in online mode and candidates domain knowledge in the subject concern will be tested for admission to the master's degree programmes.Ā
There will be a total of 60 questions carrying a total of 100 marks. The entire paper will be divided into three sections: A, B and C. IIT JAM 2024 exam will be conducted to test the student's subject knowledge, which they have studied in their respective course for undergraduate degree. The questions will be asked in the format of MCQ (Multiple choice questions), MSQ (Multiple Select Questions) and NAT (Numerical Answer Type Questions) from JAM 2025 syllabus.
All sections will be compulsory. Eligible PwD candidates were given one hour of compensatory time and the assistance of a scribe for the examination as per the guidelines of the Government of India. Q: Ā Will marks be deducted for unanswered questions in IIT JAM 2024?
According to the IIT JAM 2024 exam pattern, there will be no deduction of marks for unanswered questions. Such questions will not be taken into consideration while calculating the total marks of a candidate. Hence, if candidates are not sure about the answer of a question, it is better to leave it unattempted rather than doing a guess work, to avoid negative marking. Also, candidates are advised to revise the JAM exam sheet on the computer screen before submitting it .
IIT JAM 2025 Negative Markings
Candidates are informed that there will be a negative marking in IIT JAM 2025. Marks in each section of the exam would be deducted as per the scheme mentioned below.Ā
- Section A: For each wrong answer to one mark question, 1/3 mark will be deducted. On the other hand, for each wrong answer to two marks questions, 2/3 mark will be deducted. There is no negative marking for any questions left unanswered.
- Section B: There is no negative marking in this section. Also, there is no partial marking provision in this section.
- Section C: There is no negative marking in this section, as well.
Note: Candidates needed to select the answer for MCQ and MSQ-type questions. To enter the answer to NAT questions candidates can only use a mouse on a virtual numeric keypad. At the end of three hours, the computer will automatically close the examination, informs the official website.
It may also be noted that candidates are allowed to use the online virtual calculator in the IIT JAM 2023 exam. Therefore, candidates are recommended not to carry any calculators with them to their IIT JAM 2023 exam centre. Candidates will be provided with a scribble pad for rough work. Candidates need to return this scribble pad at the end of the examination.
