BHU is located on the southern edge of Varanasi, near the banks of the river Ganges. Development of the main campus spread over 1,300 acres. The campus has over 60 hostels offering residential accommodation for over 12,000 students. Below mentioned are the details:
- Library: In addition to the main library, there are 3 institute libraries, 8 faculty libraries, and over 25 departmental libraries available to students and staff. The university's main library is a fully air-conditioned cyber library that has a collection of 9.76 lakh books, 1.33 lakh journals, and 406 current journals.
- Hostel: There are 41 hostels for boys and 21 for girls. Additionally, there is separate accommodation for international students. All the hostels have basic amenities like water purifiers, a common room, a recreation room, a mess, a TV, laundry services, a security and surveillance system, etc.
