Campus Life at CU (Chandigarh University)
Placements: Up to 90% of students got placed in my course. The highest package was almost 54 LPA. Top recruiting companies are Club Mahindra, MakeMyTrip, Travel Triangle, etc. Up to 95% of students got internships in companies like Thomas Cook, Travel Triangle, Journey Cook, and Club Mahindra. The top roles offered in this course are travel agent, tour guide, entrepreneur, ticket agent, and many roles after foreign exchange opportunities.
Infrastructure: The classrooms are well maintained and the labs offer world-class experience with technical and practical learning. The canteen and mess food also give a variety of meals as per religion and taste. The Department of Students Welfare looks after all the conveniences for the students, like ragging or any unsocial acts inside the university.
Faculty: The faculty is top class with full guidance and knowledge of their subjects, and the faculty is also cooperative and helpful. The curriculum is very nice and with the practical knowledge, it makes the students industry ready. The exams are of average difficulty; they are not too difficult and not too easy. At the same time, they are perfect for students to get good grades in their semester exams.
Other: The events are the main attraction of this university, as the campus life gives the vibes of Karan Johar's movie Student of the Year. The sports events, TechInvent, the Star Night, and the CU Fest are all a student needs apart from studies to get relaxed and enjoy their college life.

B.Sc. (Hons.) in Forensic Science - Batch of 2025

Not satisfied with my department.
Placements: No students were placed in my course as the Forensic Science department has no placement drive. Students can take internships from police stations, CFSL, and SFSL; they are government and free of cost. Forensic Science is a course where you don't get placements, so hoping for one after completing B.Sc. is a waste of time. Instead, one should focus on completing their Masters in Forensic Science.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi in our department block doesn't work, even for teachers. The library in our department has very few books on Forensic Science, which is very sad to see. Labs are not equipped with high technology instruments, and whatever they have, they don't maintain properly. Laboratories are very poor. Hostel facilities are good. They offer good food and have an ambulance to take students to the dispensary within the campus. The wardens and guards need to learn to talk politely.
Faculty: Few faculty members are great, and they help us a lot. My curriculum is fairly relevant. The difficulty level of semester exams is average, and the passing marks depend on the average of the class toppers, so it is not fair to other students who are not at the top.
Other: Events are great, with many celebrities coming every other month.

Good in teaching but for practicals have less instruments in lab
Placements: In BSC there is no placement in Chandigarh university. In my class on one is placed in any company. For internship they only send one email to the respective laboratories so only 2-3 students get internship but mostly students do not get internships.
Infrastructure: In department of forensic science instruments are less but faculty Is good. They provide a good library and books are also available there and also provide wifi in all libraries. Classroom are also good and have projector but in labs there are a lack of instruments.
Faculty: Faculty is good and exams will be conducted timely according to the university calendar. Mostly teachers have PHD degree and good experience so faculty is almost good and they explain things clearly. Semester exams are also good and have questions they already discussed in class expected 1 or 2 questions in every paper.

The good old Chandigarh University campus times.
Placements: The roles offered by companies during placements were different from the courses we took. Most of the roles were in human resources or sales. There were a few companies that offered roles in agricultural companies, but they had a tough interview process and didn't select any students. Some of the roles offered very low pay.
Infrastructure: The hostels were good, and the food was good in some but not so good in others. There were gym facilities, but the Wi-Fi was not so good. The libraries were good. The quality of the hostels was okay, and the food in the mess was okay. The medical facilities were okay, and the facilities for sports and games were good.
Faculty: The teachers were very helpful, and the faculty was nice, friendly, and qualified. The teaching quality was good, and the course curriculum was relevant to our course. However, it needed improvement to ensure that students were industry ready. The exams were not that difficult, and the pass percentage was 40%.
Other: I chose this course because I was interested in botany and wanted to learn how to grow plants and protect them from pests and diseases. The curriculum was good, and the faculty were helpful. However, I think the placement cell could be improved. Other than that, everything was good, including the events, campus crowd, and connectivity. The campus surroundings were okay, and the extracurricular activities were good.

A Student's Perspective: Pros and Cons of CU.
Placements: Many of them get placed, but they decide to go for higher studies. The highest package in B.Sc. was approximately 6 Lacs, and the average package offered by companies for B.Sc. Biotech was 4 Lacs. Top roles offered were in insurance companies, medical scriber, etc.
Infrastructure: All the classes are smart classes. Wi-Fi is available in the hostels only and available in academic buildings but not for students, only for teachers. Lifts are available but students are not allowed in them; they are only for facilities and guests. Every academic building has its own library, but there is a central library situated in the South campus of Chandigarh University. The facilities provided by the hostels include a gym. Every hostel has its own mess on the ground floor, and they maintain hygiene. The food quality is also good.
Faculty: Yes, the teachers are very helpful, and all the teachers are qualified, having completed their Ph.D. in their fields. The university has two types of exams: MST 1 (mid-sem exam) and end-semester exam. The mid-sem exam is of 20 marks, with 1 hour given for the exam, and the end-semester exam is of 60 marks, with 3 hours given.
Other: I chose Biotech because I was interested in research and development. The best part of the course is doing the labs. The campus always has some event or fest. Some of the fests are 9XM Tashan Night, CU FEST, Fresher Party, Farewell Party, all organized by the university. Chandigarh University also provides scholarships for students. The name of the scholarship exam is CUCET (Chandigarh University Common Entrance Test). By giving this test, you can get a scholarship of up to 100%, and if you have scored more than 90% in 12th, you can get a 50% scholarship without giving CUCET.

CU is not worth the hype.
Placements: Do not expect to get placed by the university. Placements are here a scam. You need to work hard by yourself in order to get placed by the university. The university would provide you with the opportunities but at the end, it's all your skills that would help you with the placement.
Infrastructure: The overall infrastructure of the university is worth visiting. All the blocks have basic facilities like ACs, Wi-Fi, etc. But mathematics classes are held in a block which does not even have an AC. Hostels are average. There is a sports complex too.
Faculty: The university follows the National Education Policy 2020 for its curriculum. Not all the teachers are very supportive; only very few would actually help you. Exams are held every month. 2 MSTs are held per semester. You might have to give 2-3 MSTs per day.
