A:

For last year, the closing rank for B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering was 4008 which is very close to this range. This was for general category under All India quota. Unless the candidate belongs to some other category or domicile, one cannot afford to score less than this. Q:   How is DTU for B.Tech?

A:

DTU ranked 29 under the 'Engineering' category by the NIRF 2023. There are many IITs ranked before DTU under the same category. Also, it competes against the top-notch NITs and second-phase IITs in several specialisations of BTech. Hence, it is safe to say that DTU is as good as an IIT or an NIT in northern India. In fact, The Times Rankings 2022 ranked DTU number 1 in the Delhi NCR region for 'Engineering' category.

DTU BTech students are placed in top companies like Samsung, Microsoft, Zomato, and others. Also the BTech fee is not very high. To clear JEE Main, candidates must study according to the JEE Main syllabus and appear for as many JEE Main mock tests as possible.

Q:   Can I get direct admission in DTU for BTech?

A:

The selection criteria for BTech at DTU clearly states that having a JEE Mains rank is the minimum requirement for final seat allotment. Therefore, it is suggested to get qualifying scores at JEE Mains for admission at DTU. Additionally, students are also required to go through the JAC counselling process to get a seat at Delhi Technological University. After the result of JEE Main, JAC counselling for seat allotment is usually conducted in four rounds. However, there are additional spot rounds conducted for vacant seats (if available).

I am satisfied with my college.
Placements: Around 80% students placed in the IT branch. I think the average package is 26 LPA. Microsoft and Amazon around 10% cracked internships. Our college campus placement facilities are very good. Some students went for higher studies, some students got internships out of India, and some students cracked PPOs also.
Infrastructure: Labs, classes, and library infrastructure is very nice, but sometimes Wi-Fi is not working in the hostel or library, or sometimes Wi-Fi speed is around 80 Mbps. Medical facilities were average, but sports are very good. The mess is like a hostel mess. Classrooms for 1st year are decent, but 2nd-year classrooms are looking very nice. If you are in the tech branch, then your 2nd-year classes are in Twin Towers, which is very facilitated by new technology.
Faculty: Facilities are good enough, they have enough knowledge, but some core professors are very strict. Almost all professors are helpful, and there is no problem with attendance in the 1st year, so there is not too much academic pressure. The paper checking of some subjects is also very lenient, so no too much problem with professors.
Other: I am satisfied with my college. The infrastructure is very good, sports are very good, and the fest is one of the best.

Good placements, really good infrastructure, safe and secure campus, and supportive faculty.
Placements: The overall placement of the DTU is pretty good. Talking specifically about the IT department, here placements are really good. Almost everyone got placed. Talking about the percentage, it was around 88-90%. The highest package was a 1.8 crore international offer, an average of around 22 LPA and the lowest package ranged from 8 to 10 LPA. Almost every top company like Google, Amazon, Microsoft, and Atlassian visits campus for placement as well as internships. Now, talking about the internships, almost 50% of students got internships on campus; off-campus data is not available. Students are hired for every role, like SDE, product development, and data analyst.
Infrastructure: Top-tier facilities are available for the students on campus, like high-tech computer labs, lift facilities, medical facilities, and transport facilities within campus and to the nearest metro station also. The campus is lavish green, neat and properly maintained. Hostels are also good at talking about mess food; it is not that great, but not too bad either. The sports facility on the campus is also very decent. You will find all types of sports on the campus along with their teams, and you will also get chance to represent DTU in various competitions across all IITs, BITS, etc.
Faculty: Like every other college teacher, personality varies here too, like some teachers are very strict while some are very chill, like no attendance scene, and everything is chill. Although the overall atmosphere for the academics is very cool, there is not so much pressure on students for academics; you can easily score decent marks by studying 10-15 days before the final exams. Talking about the curriculum after implementation of the NEP, everything has changed now. From the first year, students are being taught industry-level courses and their branch-specific courses; no irrelevant courses are taught now. Semester exams are not too difficult, not too easy. I would rate them average.
Other: I chose the IT course because it was a CS-related course and it's placement states were very decent. The college provides everything to students, like scholarships for EWS, SC/ST, martyrs family students, etc. DTU is famous for it's fests; you will find events happening in the college every day. DTU's Engifest is one of India's largest cultural fests. DTU has more than 50 societies; students can join them according to their interests. They play a huge role in students overall development.

Partially satisfied but doesn't have that level of facilities that IIT has.
Placements: In my batch, there are 75 students. I don't know much about packages as I haven't been informed about placements this year. I will be seeking placement, so I don't have accurate answers at the moment. Currently, no one knows if the internship opportunities are good. The cutoff is requested to be above 9, which may cause many students to continue without an internship.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good, with proper ventilation, water, and AC facilities. Wi-Fi is provided in the hall area, and the library is well-stocked with a lot of content. The sports area is also good, with ample space and equipment to play. There are proper grounds for football and cricket.
Faculty: Teachers were good, having proper knowledge of their subjects. Yes, studying IT in the era of AI is beneficial, as it provides a solid knowledge base for the future. Semester exams were quite difficult, but since all students sit together, they had the opportunity to cheat, so the overall pass percentage is good.
Other: Too many students in batch .

Why do you have to choose DTU IT and not NSUT CSE?
Placements: The placement percentage of IT students at DTU is 70–80%. The highest package of IT students at DTU is 1.1 crore, the lowest is 14 LPA, and the average is 22 LPA. It's quite obvious that IT students get jobs in teaching fields generally. Also here, 60–70% of students got internships in their 2nd or 3rd year.
Infrastructure: The hostels at DTU are very good and big. In the 1st and 2nd years, we got 2 or 3 seats. But in the 3rd or 4th year, we can also take single-seater rooms. Also, here we have separate department buildings for all the branches. Also, we have a day canteen on our campus as well as a night canteen. And there we have a sports complex that has all types of gaming courts, including a gym indoor area.
Faculty: The teachers at DTU are very good. Personally, I choose DTU IT, not NSUT CSE, because DTU is flexible; there is no issue of 75% attendance, and we can easily pass every semester. The pass percentage for IT is 70–80%. The teachers give us practical knowledge based on industry-related problems.

Great Campus Life with Decent Placements.
Placements: Approximately 80 percent of students secured placements, with the highest package reaching 86 LPA and the lowest at 5 LPA. Top recruiting companies include Adobe, Microsoft, and Delivery, with main roles focusing on coding, encompassing both frontend and backend development. However, internship opportunities are limited for students.
Infrastructure: Our department, known as the Twin Tower, is newly renovated, but not all facilities are operational yet. The Wi-Fi is decent but not exceptional. Hostel conditions are subpar, appearing old with insufficient facilities. The canteen, while better than most, does not strictly follow the menu.
Faculty: Not all teachers are highly qualified, as some are guest faculty members, M.Tech, and Ph.D. students lacking extensive experience. The course curriculum is highly relevant, covering core subjects from the first year. Semester exams tend to have repetitive questions, with a 35 percent pass percentage.
Other: This is the second-best course at DTU, chosen due to being the best available and personal interest in programming. Improvement is needed to bring in more qualified teachers. The campus offers a vibrant atmosphere with frequent festivals and events. The main college festival is "Engifest." Be aware of monkeys on campus.

There is no procedure of direct admission in both the colleges. They are government colleges. You have to clear JEE Mains with good score, then only you will be eligible for admission.
