HBTU Kanpur : Better than NITs or not?
Placements: Placements in our college are decent. Last year, the highest package was INR 45 LPA, and the average package was INR 9 LPA. In our branch, i.e., Electronics Engineering, the average package was INR 9.5 LPA, and the major recruiter was Samsung. Almost 90 to 95% of the total eligible students got placed.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is pretty good. The whole campus is Wi-Fi enabled and all classrooms have AC in them. For learning enthusiasts, there is one large library, the Tagore Central Library and all the departments have their own separate libraries as well. Hostels are adequate for all the students. The mess food is also nice compared to what students get at most other colleges.
Faculty: Faculty members at our college are highly qualified and experienced. Most of the faculty members are Ph.D. holders. They are very friendly and helpful by nature. There are basically two mid-semester and an end-semester exam in each semester, which are of an easy to moderate level.

An honest review about HBTU Kanpur.
Placements: In my branch, i.e., Electronics Engineering, almost 90% of the students were placed by campus placement that were eligible, and many opted for further studies. The highest package for the year 2022–23 was INR 17.25 LPA for an on-campus placement. The major companies that come in our college are Samsung, Paytm, Jio, Optum, etc. Almost all of the eligible students get an internship in their third year, which is provided by the college.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the department is not like that of IIT's but we have air-conditioned classes and labs for almost everything. There are separate hostels available every year. The quality of the food is pretty decent; you can't expect home-quality food but you will get decent-tasting food every day.
Faculty: Almost all the teachers here are Ph.D. holders and are quite good. Well, the quality of teaching depends on the teacher and their teaching style; some are good and the rest are just average. The course is designed to target all the government exams and most of the syllabus is covered in the course itself.

I Am Quite Satisfied with Placements; College Life Is Not So Great
Placements: The placements are pretty good compared to other state colleges. For Mechanical and Chemical Engineering, the college provides 100% placement, and placements for CS and IT branches are also good. Some companies that visit include TCS, Havells, Maruti, Varroc, Hero, and others.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is relatively old. The labs are not very updated in terms of equipment and facilities. The college hostels are average, and the boys' hostel is situated 3 to 4 km from the academic building, so students need to manage transportation.
Faculty: The teachers are quite qualified but very academically driven. They don’t focus much on internships and placement scenarios, so students have to balance their academics with practical learning on their own. The semester exams are generally easy to pass, except for some subjects.
Other: The college is fine considering the placement scenario. Students need to put in their own effort, and there is a lot of extra time available for themselves.

Good college, better than most of the NITs.
Placements: 80 percent of students were placed. The average package is about INR 12 to 13 LPA. The highest package is INR 1 crore. Many prestigious companies come to college. Most of the students get placed. Internships are being offered on campus and most of the students enroll in internships. Top roles are like making a career in VLSI and pursuing a Masters. Samsung comes to the campus.
Infrastructure: Fully Wi-Fi campus. Classrooms have good air conditioning. There is a huge library on the main campus with a lot of resources. Hostel food is eatable and of good quality. A lot of variety is in food. A new department is under construction and it will have a lot of facilities. Canteen food is nice and not so expensive.
Faculty: Teachers help a lot and they are friendly too. Quality education is there. A new NEP education policy curriculum is being implemented. Pass percentage is very good, above 95%. Semester exams are quite tough, but it is doable. Yes, students are given practical knowledge.
Other: Versatility is there, of course. Knowledge of both hardware and software is given. Events and fests are great. Food is good to go. Scholarships are given to top-ranking students at the institute.

I am not satisfied with the infrastructure of our college.
Placements: In our course, almost 70-75% of students are placed. Some students are preparing for the GATE and CAT. The highest salary package offered is 17LPA. The average salary package offered is 7 LPA to 8 LPA and the lowest salary package offered is 4 LPA to 5 LPA. Top recruiting companies like Flipkart, Amazon, etc., visit our campus. Our college provides a few internship opportunities.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is not good. Roads are not safe enough to travel to college during the rainy season. Classrooms for the first year are good because they are newly built and air-conditioned, but from the second year, you will get old-designed classrooms. Labs and libraries are beneficial, but not all books are available in the library. The hostel is good. The quality of food available in the mess is good. There are no indoor gaming facilities in the hostel.
Faculty: Our teachers are qualified and knowledgeable. The teaching quality is good. The course curriculum is excellent for GATE and IES exams. We have 3 exams each semester, such as two mid-term exams and one end-term exam. Mid-semester exams are relatively easy to pass, but end-semester exams are more difficult to pass. A CGPA of 4 is required to pass.
Other: I got this branch because my rank is not good enough to get CSE and IT, but after studying it, I feel it is good. Infrastructure should be improved. Events are excellent. One or two events will undoubtedly occur every one to 1.5 months. The UP government offers scholarships to students. The college does not offer scholarships to students, but some of the college clubs do. There are many clubs at this college.

Best option is to go for mechanical engineering from NIT, Raipur as it has more reputation and also mechanical engineering has more scope than electronics engineering.
