Q:   How do I complete the Maharashtra HSC syllabus 2 months before the exams?

A:

Consistency is the key to success and thus, you should start with the syllabus from the beginning of the session. However, in case you haven't finished your syllabus yet, you can follow the tips below that will help you complete all the chapters within two months:

Organize your Syllabus

Maharashtra HSC has a vast syllabus with several interlinked topics. So, you need to understand your syllabus thoroughly and start studying topic-wise. All the subjects have a large number of topics and chapters, but once you get cleared with all your concepts, you will find it easy to cover the syllabus. First, focus on understanding each concept of every specific topic, and then you need to move towards the theory part and numerical.

Create a Structured Schedule

Managing your time properly is the key for you to achieve your goal in less time. So, you need to structure your study time properly for each and every subject. You need to allot specific hours to all subjects. Along with this, you will need to dedicate a few hours to your Language subjects every week.

Solve Question Papers

Solving previous year's question papers is one of the best ways to test yourself, to understand where exactly you stand and what topics you need to focus on more. It also familiarizes you with the exam pattern, marking scheme, and types of questions that frequently appear. Additionally, it helps in managing time during the exam.

Seek Guidance and Clarification

If you have doubts or find certain topics challenging, don't hesitate to seek help from teachers. When you do so, you will get to know that dedicated teachers do provide you with personalized attention, clarifying concepts and offering shortcuts or tips to solve problems effectively.

Maintain a Balanced Approach

While it's crucial to focus on your studies, don’t neglect your health. Remember, a healthy body significantly contributes to maintaining a sound state of mind. Ensure you get adequate sleep, eat well, and indulge in short breaks or physical activities to rejuvenate your mind.

Revision and Self-Assessment

Regular revision is the key to retention. Schedule periodic revisions and self-assessments. Test your knowledge by solving quick quizzes or solving problems to ensure you've retained the information. Moreover, the revision will also help you reduce your anxiety.

Stay Positive and Confident

Lastly, stay positive. Maintain a positive attitude throughout your preparation. Believing in your abilities and staying confident can alleviate stress and enhance your performance during the CBSE board exams.

Q:   Is Maharashtra Board syllabus same as CBSE?

A:

No, CBSE syllabus and Maharashtra Board are not the same. There are certain key differences between these two boards which parents and students should consider before choosing which board they want to study in. Here are some of the main differences between Maharashtra and CBSE boards:

  1. CBSE is a central board that falls under the purview of the central government, while Maharashtra board falls under state government purview, which means that it is managed by the government of Maharashtra.
  2. The syllabus, curriculum, subjects and course material of both boards differ quite a bit. CBSE curriculum is formed by the NCERT while Maharashtra curriculum is formed by the State government department of education.
  3. Since CBSE is a national board, it gives priority to English as the medium of education and communication. However, since Maha board is a state managed board, it gives priority to regional languages like Marathi, Hindi, Kannada, etc. with English being taught as the first or second language, depending on the schools.
  4. Most CBSE schools are private and thus the overall cost of education in CBSE board is usually higher than state board. Since Maharashtra board schools are state-managed, it is widely available in most public schools, as well as private ones, and so it has lower fees.
  5. The CBSE board is uniform throughout the country, which means that children can transfer from one school to another in a different state, while still learning the same syllabi. On the other hand, since the Maharashtra board syllabi is state-specific, changing schools inter-state is not very feasible.
  6. Another point of difference between the two boards is the range of subjects offered. Again, since CBSE is a centralised board, it offers a limited variety of subjects,  especially in languages, arts and humanities. On the other hand, Maha board offers quite a range of subjects in all disciplines, including numerous languages.
  7. Since CBSE is also the board that controls a lot of national competitive exams, the board focuses a lot on preparing children for such exams. However, Maharashtra board focuses more on holistic academic knowledge,  without focusing on any particular competitive exams.
