JEE Advanced 2025 Counselling: JoSAA Dates, Cutoff, IIT Seat Matrix

Probabaly, as the seats increase every year. Last year, there has been a notable surge in the number of available seats for BTech courses at IITs. In 2024, the total number of seats available were 17,740. In 2023, the number of Btech seats in IITs were 17,385. The number of seats to be available in 2025 will be notified with the JoSAA counselling details.

JEE Advanced counselling is called JoSAA. JoSAA 2025 will be conducted by Joint Seat Allocation Authority and the dates will be announced for the counselling after the JEE Advanced result. There will be 5 rounds of seat allotment. Candidates who are allotted seats in each round of JoSAA 2025 Counselling will be required to choose the options from Freeze, Float or Slide. Candidates who opt Freeze option will be required to complete reporting process between the prescribed deadline. The candidates who are not allotted seats during JoSAA 2025 seat allotment rounds still get a chance to get enrolled in NIT+ system through CSAB counselling 2025. During the counselling of JoSAA, two rounds of mock allotment are held to help candidates make correct choices for the real allotment rounds. The JoSAA 2025 seat allotment result is released in online mode after every round. Candidates are allotted seats according to their merit, preferences and availability of seats. The admission process for admissions in 23 IITs, 31 NITs, 25 IIITs, and 28 Other-Government Funded Technical Institutes (Other-GFTIs) is managed by The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA). Over 50,000 undergraduate engineering seats (B.Tech/BE) will be open for eligible candidates.

To be eligible for JoSAA counseling in 2025, candidates must fulfill certain conditions. This includes getting a rank in either JEE Main 2025 Paper-1 or JEE Advanced 2025 exams. Minimum grades or percentage requirements for grade 12 exams also apply. A minimum of 75% is required for general category candidates, while a minimum of 65% is required for SC, ST and PwD candidates. Also you can be in top 20% based on your 12th standard. In addition, JoSAA participating institutes may have their own eligibility criteria for specific programs. Nationality requirements include Indian citizenship or meeting special criteria for foreigners.

It is mandatory to have minimum 75% marks (65% for reserved category) in class 12 to take admission in IITs, NITs, IIITs and GFTIs. Candidates should apply for JoSAA conselling only if they fulfill all the conditions of eligibility. However, many institutes admit students on the basis of JEE Main where there is no requirement of minimum marks in class 12.

Respective Indian Institutes of Technology will release the admission cutoffs of Joint Entrance Examination-Advanced 2024 in the form of opening and closing ranks. However, the exam authority will release the cutoff of Indian Institutes of Technology Joint Entrance Examination Advanced 2024 cutoff marks that candidates need to score to be named under the Joint Entrance Examination Advanced rank list 2024.

No, the result will be published only once along with your score and you're rank. If you have qualified marks then only your rank will be shown otherwise you'll not find your rank there. Because the rank is generated only for those who have qualified the score in JEE Advanced.

JEE Advanced rank lists are prepared based on the aggregate marks in JEE Advanced. Only candidates who appear for BOTH Paper 1 and Paper 2 will be considered for ranking. There will be no waiting list for ranking. The ranklist is used in JoSAA for allocation of seats in the IITs. JoSAA is held online only. All the candidates who are eligible for admission will have to participate in the joint seat allocation process by filling in their preferential choices of the courses and institutes. If the aggregate marks scored by two or more candidates are the same, then the following tie-break policy will be used for awarding ranks: Candidates having higher positive marks will be awarded a higher rank. If a tie exists then a higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in Mathematics. If this does not break the tie, a higher rank will be assigned to the candidate who has obtained higher marks in Physics. If there is a tie even after this, candidates will be assigned the same rank.

JoSAA 2025 counselling for JEE Main and JEE Advanced qualifiers will begin on June 2025. The entire schedule of JoSAA counselling 2025 will be uploaded on josaa.nic.in.

Yes. JEE Advanced counselling is conducted by JoSAA. The candidates with JEE Advanced rank have to register for JoSAA counselling for admission to the IITs.

Firstly admissions to National Institute of Technology are given based on the performance in examination called JEE Mains. As a matter of fact there is no other examination which is required to be cleared by the student to get admission in these institutes. On the other hand JEE Advanced examination will lead students for admission in IIT's. Thus we can SEE that these two examinations are required for taking admission in two different Sets of Institutions. Also there is no other examination that can get a student admission in either of these to Sets of institutions. In view of foregoing, we can conclude that these are the only two examinations required to be given and no other examination has any score for enabling admission in these two Sets of institutions.

Once the JEE Advanced results are out, students must register for JoSAA counselling. It is a centralized counselling process for admissions to premier Indian institutions including IIT Roorkee. The steps to log into JoSAA counselling account is as follows:

If you are unable to find your Category certificate during JoSAA Counselling then you can change your Category to general any time.  But after allotment of college during JoSAA Counselling, if your Category certificate is found invalid then your whole candidature will be canceled prohibiting you from joining any college alloted.

You may not receive the CBSE improvement examination result in time for JoSAA counselling, since improvement examinations by CBSE usually get their result after two-three weeks from conducting the improvement exam and counseling rounds for JoSAA starts at the earliest two-three weeks of announcement of results for JEE Main.

Yes, but only after subtracting Rs. 1500 in cancellation fees. However, depending on the organisation and the particulars surrounding the payment, there may be differences in the counselling fee refund policy. If you belong to the ST category and do not have a valid caste Certificate at the time of JoSAA document verification, you may face some challenges in the admission process. All those candidates who have score above the cutoff marks in their respective category can register for JoSAA counselling for participating in the IIT seat allotment process.
