The UPSC asks a good number of questions from the Indian Constitution and the questions always seem easy, but in reality, they involve the important conceptual applications of the principles imbibed in the Constitution of India.
UPSC question paper also incorporated many questions from the fundamental topics from Geography and Economy. The unique feature of the IAS question paper is that the standard of the paper remains similar over the years. Hence the UPSC question papers of previous years serve as a benchmark for the IAS preparation.
In Indian Economy, the UPSC always asks about measures to control inflation. Besides these, other questions ask about the basic structure of the Indian Economy and its interaction with the world. Geo-Economic has taken precedence over the Geo-political issues. USA and China relation is the best example to substantiate this.
UPSC question paper always has a good number of questions from Indian Geography Section. It asks conceptual questions related to the building of physical features. Indian Monsoon, pollution and the likes are the favourite sections of UPSC.

History is not so prominent in the UPSC question paper and most of the questions are asked from the Indian National Movement. The questions from the Indian National Movement require a clear understanding of the society and the activities of our revolutionary leaders. Some questions are very difficult and cannot be found in the standard books. This makes the IAS question paper hard nut to crack.
