Andhra University released the APSET 2021 notification on August 4 to conduct the Andhra Pradesh State Eligibility Test (APSET). The APSET application form 2021 was released on August 11, 2021. Candidates, who want to appear for the APSET 2021 examination in order to gain eligibility as Assistant Professors or Lecturers in the state colleges or universities, need to submit their applications online.
Candidates who fulfil the eligibility criteria laid down by Andhra University for the APSET 2021 can apply for the exam. For the ease of candidates, we have shared here the APSET eligibility criteria as per the latest notification of Andhra University in terms of educational qualification and age limit. It is suggested that candidates should go through the eligibility criteria thoroughly before filling the APSET application form 2021.
APSET Eligibility 2021 – Educational Qualification
Candidates need to fulfil the following educational qualification in order to be eligible to apply for the APSET exam:
- Candidates who have obtained at least 55 per cent marks in Master’s Degree or equivalent exam from universities/institutions recognised by UGC are eligible for this Test.
- Candidates who are pursuing their Master’s degree or equivalent course or appeared for qualifying final year exams of Master’s degree and whose result is awaited or candidates whose qualifying exams have been delayed can also apply for the exam. However, such candidates are admitted provisionally and are awarded the eligibility for Assistant Professor only after they qualify their Master’s Degree with at least 55 per cent marks (50 per cent for BC / SC / ST / PwD / Transgender)
- Candidates are advised to appear for the APSET exam in the subject of their Post Graduation only. Candidates whose Post Graduation subject is not mentioned in the APSET subjects list can appear for a related subject
- Candidates are not required to send any certificates or documents nor printout of their APSET application form to the Andhra University. However the candidates, in their own interest, must satisfy themselves about their eligibility for the Test.
- Candidates having post-graduate diploma or certificate of any Indian University/ Institute or having foreign degree/ diploma/ certificate of foreign University/ Institute that is equivalent to Master’s degree of recognized Indian universities from the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) can apply for APSET

There is no upper age limit to apply for the APSET 2021 examination. Candidates of any age are eligible to apply for the exam.
APSET Eligibility 2021 - Relaxation for Reserved Category Candidates
Have a look at the APSET relaxation norms for the reserved category candidates:
- Reserved categories such as Backward Classes (BC), Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Transgender and persons with disability (PwD) are eligible for a relaxation of 5 per cent in aggregate marks of Master’s Degree. They need to secure at least 50 per cent marks
- Transgender category candidates are eligible for similar relaxations in terms of fees, age and qualifying criteria for Assistant Professor as available for SC/ST/PwD categories. The subject wise cut-offs for the Transgender category is the lowest among those for SC/ST/PwD/BC categories
- PhD degree holders who have completed their Master’s Degree exam by September 19, 1991 (irrespective of the date of declaration of result) are eligible for a relaxation of 5 per cent in aggregate marks, that is 50 per cent instead of 55 per cent, in order to appear for APSET
