NTA is conducting UGC NET Phase 1 2023 exam for 57 subjects. The overall difficulty level of the Linguistic paper held on February 23, 2023 was moderate to difficult. Read this article to know more about UGC NET Phase 1 exam analysis 2023. 

UGC NET Phase 1 Exam Analysis 2023

UGC NET Phase 1 Exam Analysis 2023: National Testing Agency (NTA) is conducting UGC NET Phase 1 exam 2023 till February 24, 2024 for subjects. The exam is being conducted in two shifts-9 am to 12 pm and 3 pm to 6 pm. NTA conducted the Linguistic paper in the first shift today (February 23, 2023). The overall difficulty level of the paper was moderate to difficult compared to last year. As the paper was tough, UGC NET cut off for this paper is expected to be less compared to last year. According to UGC NET exam pattern, paper 1 carries 50 questions from Teaching Aptitude, Reasearch Aptitude, Reading Comprehension, Communication, Reasoning (Including Maths), Logical Reasoning, Data Interpretation, Information & Communication Technology (ICT), People & Environment and Higher Education System: Governance, Polity & Administration. Total marks allotted to the Paper 1 exam are 100. Paper 2 carries 100 questions on specific subjects. Read this article below to know more on UGC NET Phase 1 exam analysis 2023.

UGC NET Phase 1 Exam Analysis 2023 & Student Reaction for February 23

The Linguistic Paper 1 carried two questions from Reasearch Aptitude, seven to eight questions from Communication, six to seven questions from Teaching Aptitude, etc. The Teaching Aptitude section was difficult. The Paper 2, which carried subject-specific questions, was moderate to difficult in terms of difficulty level. This paper carried few questions from previous year's question paper. Q:   What is the section-wise weightage of Paper 1 and Paper 2 in the UGC NET exam?

The UGC NET exam consists of two papers- Paper 1 and Paper 2. The section-wise weightage of each paper is as follows: Paper 1: a)Teaching Aptitude: 5 questions (10 marks) b)Research Aptitude: 5 questions (10 marks) c)Reading Comprehension: 5 questions (10 marks) d) Communication: 5 questions (10 marks) e)Reasoning (including Mathematical): 5 questions (10 marks) f) Logical Reasoning: 5 questions (10 marks) g) Data Interpretation: 5 questions (10 marks) h) Information and Communication Technology (ICT): 5 questions (10 marks) I) People and Environment: 5 questions (10 marks) j) Higher Education System: 5 questions (10 marks) The total marks for Paper 1 are 100. Paper 2: The UGC NET Paper 2 is subject-specific, and the section-wise weightage varies according to the subject. Paper 2 consists of 100 multiple-choice questions, each carrying 2 marks. The total marks for Paper 2 are 200. In Paper 2, most of the questions are asked from the core subject, while a few questions may be asked from related subjects. The questions are designed to test the in-depth knowledge and understanding of the subject by the candidate. Therefore, the section-wise weightage of the UGC NET exam varies according to the paper and subject. It is important for candidates to go through the UGC NET syllabus for their subject and prepare accordingly to score well in the exam.

Q:   What is the marking scheme of UGC NET 2024 December session exam?

The marking of the UGC NET exam has been given below for the candidates. Following the marking scheme for the UGC NET exam the candidates who are willing to appear in the UGC NET exam can understand the exam pattern and prepare for the exam well. The marking will also help the candidate to count the probable scores from the UGC NET provisional answer key that is released by the National Testing Agency (NTA): a)Correct answer: 2 b) Incorrect answer: No negative mark c) Unanswered/marked for review: 0 (no marks given) d) Incorrect or ambiguous question/has multiple correct answers: 2 to those who have chosen one of the correct answers. E) Incorrect or dropped questions: 2 to those who have attempted the question.

Parthana said, "The paper 1 and 2 were tough compared to last year. The Maths section in Paper 1 was tough. There were maximum questions from communication. There were one or two questions from Teaching Aptitude."

Saksham said, “The difficulty level for the mathematical reasoning section was easy to moderate. The Data Interpretation questions were lengthy and time taking. Other than this the paper was doable in nature.” 

Lovely said, “The teaching aptitude and research aptitude were doable and easy in nature. However, the overall Paper 1 difficulty level was moderate in nature.” 

Ritik said, “The questions from communication were easy and doable in nature but the computer section was moderate to difficult. The questions in the communication section were direct in nature and were twisted as compared to the last session.” 

UGC NET Exam Analysis February 22, 2023 

Based on the reviews of the candidates for the UGC NET exam Phase 1 Shift 1 exam on February 22, the paper 1 exam was moderate in nature.  6 to 7 were asked from Research Aptitude, 5 questions were from Reading Comprehension, and 7 questions were from Communication. On the other hand, People & Environment and Higher Education System had 7 to 8 questions that were overall moderate in nature.
