IAS syllabus only mentions the current events of national and international importance in the official notification. But current events of national and international importance is a very broad term and the candidates need to decide which topics to be left for the exam.

Current_Affairs_2020_Topics_for_IAS_Exam

Current Affairs topics for the IAS exam is the basis of preparation. The IAS syllabus only mentions current events of national and international importance as a topic but it is a very broad and inclusive term. By the name of the topics, we can assume that all the current affairs are important for the IAS exam. The candidates need to filter the current affairs topics through the lens of relevancy for the exam. The candidates should be able to relate the current event with the importance for the exam. Current affairs is a vast entity and hence it is very difficult to prepare. From the serious analysis of Current Affairs topics, we can deduce the most important topics for the IAS exam.

The candidates need to filter out the irrelevant current events to reduce the baggage for the exam. The candidates should analyse the previous year's question papers to decide the relevancy of the topics for the UPSC exam. It is important to leave the totally irrelevant topics. The political debate running on TV which is an ideology based is one such example of irrelevant content for the exam. The political ideology is irrelevant for the exam. The candidates must minimize the waste of efforts on such things and in the exercise of that Current Affais syllabus for IAS exam can be very helpful. Current affairs have a deep impact on the static topics of general studies and the question in the IAS exam mostly asks about the static general studies concepts with the reference to the current event. The candidates must know the background of the current event to co-relate and suggest the way forward to solve the issue at hand.

The current affairs section is the most important section of the IAS syllabus and if the IAS aspirant prepared the current affairs with a deliberate strategy, he or she can score much better in the IAS exam and can master the IAS preparation. The current affairs section is the basic force which guides the IAS preparation and influences the questions from all other topics of IAS syllabus. The current affairs section is the most dynamic component of the IAS syllabus and hence needs the largest amount of time.

See here: IAS Toppers

Current events of national and international importance include all the events occurring in India and the world. Current Affairs is the major stakeholder of the IAS preparation. IAS preparation can be said the extension of Current Affairs in all its aspects and directions. IAS questions are always influenced by current events of national and international importance. Current Affairs is the only constituent of the IAS syllabus, common to all the General Studies papers and Essays. The current affairs topics are the tip of the iceberg which have their roots in the static topics as mentioned in the IAS syllabus topics. The current affairs preparation is critical to the selection in the IAS exam. As the IAS Toppers suggest, current affairs, the IAS syllabus and the previous year's question papers guide the IAS preparation.

The candidates should always analyse the previous years’ IAS question papers because such analysis will provide direction to the IAS preparation. IAS preparation requires deep insight, opinion building and in-depth analysis of current affairs which can help them in IAS preparation but there is a lot of study material spread across the net. Firstly, the candidates should zero down the number of topics and then start preparing them daily.
