Q:   When will be the NIOS 10th exam 2025 held?

The NIOS 10th exam 2025 will be held in April-May 2025. The board will release the NIOS date sheet 2025 in March 2025 tentatively. NIOS 10th Result 2024

The NIOS declared the NIOS 10th result April/May 2024 exam on June 27, 2024. All the candidates who appeared for the examinations must visit the official website of NIOS to check their results by using their respective enrolment numbers.  NIOS result April 2023 was out on June 25, 2023.

NIOS Class 10 Highlights

The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) conducts NIOS Class 10th examinations twice a year, in March-April and October/November. NIOS Class 10 exams are conducted for a total of three hours, from 2:30 pm to 5:30 pm

The NIOS 10th examinations are conducted in April for Block-I and in October for Block-II. 

NIOS gives the choice in the medium of instruction to the students at the secondary stage: Hindi, English, Urdu, Marathi, Telugu, Gujarati, Malayalam, Tamil, Odia, and Punjabi. The learners need to pay the required registration fee and the examination fee. NIOS Theory Exams fee is INR 250 per subject. Students have to pay INR 120 per subject for NIOS Practical exams. Additional INR 50/- will be charged for each transaction. Students have to visit the official website for registration. A learner registering under Stream-2, Stream-3, Stream-4 and desirous to take different subjects or additional subject from parent boards, will have to pay INR 720/- per subject in addition to Admission/Registration Fee, Examination Fee and TOC fee.

In case of loss of Identity Card, a duplicate Identity Card is issued by NIOS. For obtaining Duplicate Identity, the learner needs to lodge an FIR with the concerned police station. Then they should apply through the e-service portal of the website. They should also pay the required fee for the duplicate ID card. Students are advised to keep their ID cards safe.

NIOS 10th Admission 

The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) released the schedule for the NIOS 10th registration process and payment of exam fee for April/May 2024 public exams. Students can check the NIOS 10th application form page for more details. For learners enrolled in stream I, Block I, and for eligible learners for exams before Oct-Nov 2023 exams, could register from November 21 to December 20, 2023 without late fee. They could register with a late fee of INR 100 per subject from December 21 to December 31, 2023. With a consolidated late fee of INR 1500 per learner, the registration could be done from January 1 to January 10, 2024.

The NIOS 10th admissions take place twice a year, Block-I in April, while the Block-II admissions take place in October, every year. The dates usually remain the same every year. The NIOS Admissions for Class 10th for Block-I commenced on March 16, 2023 and concluded on September 15, 2023. The next admission cycle, which is for Block-II began on September 16, 2023 and ended on March 15, 2024.

NIOS 10th Exam Pattern

NIOS 10th exam includes subjects from Group A and Group B. The total exam duration is three hours, while for the subjects having practicals, it is 2.5 hours and 3 hours for theory and practicals, respectively. The maximum marks for each of the exams is 100. Students must check the complete NIOS 10th exam pattern to have a detailed view of the NIOS 10th exams 2024.

A learner is required to pass in a minimum of five subjects including one or a maximum of two languages from Group 'A' and other three or four subjects from Group 'B'. NIOS 10th Eligibility

To apply for the Secondary courses at NIOS, a learner needs to meet the following criteria:

  • Students should have cleared class 8th and have valid proof of attaining 14 years of age can apply for registration to the Secondary Course.
  • Age of the student should be minimum 14 years.
  • A learner giving a self-certificate “I have studied enough to be able to pursue secondary course” is also eligible for admission to the Secondary Course.
  • A learner who had studied at the secondary level elsewhere can also seek admission either to complete the course or improve performance.

Q:   What is the exam pattern of NIOS 10th grade?

A:

The grading of subjects is made of two parts, Tutor Marked Assignments, or TMAs and the final examinations. For subjects without practicals, such as the Group A subjects, TMAs account for 20% of the grade. The final exam for most subjects will be for 3 hours. However, a few subjects, such as Home Science, have an exam duration of 2.5 hours. Students should refer to the NIOS exam pattern before starting the preparation for the NIOS 10th exams. This will help them to know the marking scheme. Thus students can prepare accordingly.

Q:   What is the eligibility criteria for the NIOS secondary certificate?

NIOS requires students at the Secondary level to have passed at least Class 8, and be of 14 years of age. They can also submit a self-certificate stating that they have studied enough to pursue the Secondary certificate. Students who have partially or fully completed their Class 10th degrees from other boards can also enroll for the Secondary level to improve their grades or complete their course. Students at the Secondary level need to take a minimum of 5 subjects, including at least one language, and no more than 2 languages. They can take a maximum of 7 subjects.
