CSIR NET December 2019 Exam Analysis by Students
Shiksha reported live from a CSIR NET exam centre in Noida where about 800 students were taking the exam. Soon after the first shift of CSIR NET exam was over, Shiksha reached out to students to know the difficulty level of the paper. Majority of the candidates that Shiksha spoke to appeared for Life Science, Physical Science and Earth Science papers. The overall difficulty level of all the three papers as per students is mentioned below:
CSIR NET Papers |
CSIR NET Difficulty Level for December 2019 Exam |
---|---|
Life Sciences |
Easy to Moderate |
Physical Sciences |
Easy to Moderate |
Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences |
Moderate to Difficult |
Know what students had to say about the difficulty level, pattern and expected cutoff for each paper below:
Anurag (appeared for Physical Science paper): This time, I found the CSIR NET Physical Science paper a bit on the easier side. Among all the parts, I found questions from part-A easy. Questions from section-C were a bit conceptual but not lengthy. In fact, questions from this section were easy, if one knew the concepts. Similar to section-C, there were no lengthy questions in section-B as well. However, only if you knew the concepts you could attempt this section. I think CSIR NET 2019 cutoff for Physical Science December 2019 paper will be similar to last year, which was around 100 marks.
Nehal (appeared for Physical Science paper): I have done MSc Physics from Jamia Millia Islamia University. This time’s Physical Science paper was easier as compared to June 2019 paper. However, overall, the paper was of moderate difficulty level. It was not a very easy paper. My paper went okay. I think the CSIR NET cutoff would go 80+ this time.
Mohammed (appeared for Physical Science paper): I am a postgraduate in Physics. This year’s CSIR NET Physical Science paper was relatively easier as compared to June 2019 paper. I found section-A extremely easy and section-B of moderate difficulty level. The cutoff would be 80+.
Vikrant (appeared for Earth Science paper): As compared to June 2019 exam, this time’s Earth Science paper was more difficult. The first section, which was the Aptitude section, contained more questions on Mathematics, which I found difficult. Section-B and C were also difficult this time as compared to the June 2019 exam. I am expecting that this year’s cutoff will be high. Talking about the CSIR NET exam pattern, this time there was a negative marking of 0.25 marks for a two-mark question and 1.32 marks for a four-mark question. The negative marking has increased from previous examination. Previously, there was a negative marking of one mark for a four-mark question, which has now increased to 1.32 marks.
Ayushi (appeared for Life Science paper): The difficulty level of CSIR NET Life Science exam was moderate. Out of the three sections, I attempted questions from part-B first because I found this section easier as compared to other sections. Questions from part-C of the exam were of moderate to high difficulty level. There were more conceptual and logical reasoning questions of MSc (Master of Science) level in this section, which were difficult but I could attempt them. I attempted questions from part-A at the last as I am little weak in Maths. However, I could attempt questions from this section as well. I hope that the CSIR NET result 2019 would be in my favour.
Parmarth (appeared for Life Science paper): This was my first attempt at CSIR NET exam after clearing MSc. Since NTA is conducting the CSIR NET exam this year, I found the paper pattern a bit changed. Also, I believe that students whose concepts about the subject are clear can score well in this exam. There were not many application-based questions this year. For instance, there were direct questions in part-B of the Life Science paper and I could attempt questions from this section well. I think that the expected CSIR NET cutoff for Life Science paper would be the same as last year.
Mukul (appeared for Life Science paper): My exam went good. I found the difficulty level of the paper moderate. There were direct questions from section-B of the exam. Section-A was also easy. However, I found difficulty in solving questions from section-C of the exam. I think the expected CSIR NET cutoff 2019 for Life Science paper can be 110-115 marks.
