Primarily, BTech in Dairy Technology equips the students to meet the challenges faced by the dairy sector and helps them learn all aspects of processing and manufacturing of milk products.
- MSc in Dairy Technology: MSc is a 2-year course covering production, labelling, processing, packaging, and preservation-related topics. One can opt for this course after graduation in BSc, or other equivalent courses are completed with 50% of the minimum aggregate marks.
- MTech in Dairy Technology: Similar to MSc, it is also a 2-year course. Master of Technology in Dairy Technology can opt after the candidate has appeared for the BTech or similar undergraduate courses. Once the aspirants crack the MTech, the candidates get an incredible salary package as project manager, construction manager, research associate, senior engineer, mechanical engineer, software developer, maintenance manager in Dairy Technology, etc.
- Diploma in Dairy Technology: The diploma in this field is offered in collaboration with the ministry of food processing industries, Government of India. Primarily, the course aims at developing technician-level personnel for the dairy industry by enhancing the technical expertise of lower-level workers who are already working in this sector. The key focus is to develop the proficiency of these technicians in fluid milk processing, quality control aspects, procurement of milk, and production of value-added products.
- Scope in India: The Dairy Technology stream is a lucrative field one can opt for. Candidates pursuing this course can easily find jobs in the public and private sectors at places including dairy farms, rural banks, manufacturing organisations, milk product processing units, etc. The demand for dairy technologists has increased extensively after the foundation of the National Dairy Development Board and the introduction of 'Operation Food.' These professionals must ensure the seamless functioning, execution, and development of various dairy industry projects. Once completing this course and developing expertise in this stream, dairy technologists easily earn between INR 0.2 lakhs to 9 lakhs per annum.
- General Examination Pattern: Students who have passed class 12th with an aggregate of 50% marks from a recognised board can apply for the Dairy Technology course. However, some relaxation is granted to candidates from the reserved category as per university guidelines. All the candidates must pass both the exams, theoretical and practical, to earn a degree in this exclusive field.
Additionally, students also undergo hands-on campus training in different college departments. The delivery method of the course includes practical sessions, classroom lectures, internships, and industrial visits.
