What is biomedical engineering?
Biomedical engineering is a fast-growing field that combines concepts and techniques of biology with that of engineering for solving healthcare-related problems. Depending on your preference and career goals, you can pursue biomedical engineering at the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate levels.
This multidisciplinary course not only seeks to help medical practitioners but also enables students to provide required rehabilitation for patients. The individual must have studied PCM or PCB in class 12th from a recognized board in India.
Once you have met the above-mentioned criteria, you can easily enrol for a BTech, B.E. or B.Sc. in Biomedical Engineering or related fields.
Syllabus – Important Facts for Biomedical Engineering
- B.Sc. in Biomedical Science is an undergraduate programme for a total of 3 years. It is primarily focused on providing students with a 360-degree overview of human health and diseases, while also covering areas like anatomy, physiology and molecular biology.
- An undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering is a four-year program. It is a technical degree that focuses on creating technological solutions for better health management and treatment. The primary objective is to blend physical and biological science together to create better, more robust solutions.
Scope of Biomedical Engineering in India:
A fast-growing field, biomedical engineers earn an average salary of INR 3 to 4 lakhs per annum. The medical technology industry in India is expected to grow to a whopping $50 billion by 2025, with extensive R&D support by the government and the emergence of start-ups.
