This course is offered as a specialisation in Master of Technology under the department of Electronics and Communications Engineering across popular engineering colleges in India. It prepares candidates to design and conduct independent research in Microwave communications and construct Smart Antennas for smooth communication. Professionals trained in this course are highly required in Space Research Organisations and Meteorology Departments who deal with satellite communication for their work.
The course structure of M.Tech in RF and Microwave Engineering is similar to M.Tech Radar and Microwave Engineering as well as M.Tech in Microwave Engineering. - Eligibility Criteria- Candidates aspiring to pursue M.Tech in RF and Microwave Engineering must have completed B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering from a recognised university. They must have cleared national-level or state-level entrance exams for admissions to postgraduate courses.
- Course Fees- Government colleges have an average fee structure of INR 50,000- INR 2 lakh per annum, whereas private colleges have an average fee structure of INR 1 lakh- INR 3 lakh per annum.
- Learning Outcomes- Candidates after completing this specialised course shall be able to conduct their independent research on RF and Microwave technology, design circuits and create array and circuit models using computer software. Advanced Electromagnetic Engineering |
This course deals with the types and properties of waves, cylindrical and spherical wave function and microwave networks. |
Electromagnetic Interference & Electromagnetic Compatibility |
The course introduces learners to the electromagnetic interference, conducted and radiated emission and susceptibility to determine electromagnetic compatibility. |

Numerical Techniques in Electromagnetics |
It deals with the numerical methods to solve electromagnetic problems such as Finite Difference Time Domain, Moments Method, Finite Element and Monte Carlo Method. |
Microwave Integrated Circuit Lab |
It consists of experiments such as designing a microstrip low pass filter, phase shifters, coupled line coupler, microstrip transistor oscillator etc. |

Microwave Measurement and Material Characterisation |
It deals with the various materials used in microwave transmission and their characteristics. It also deals with the methods for characterisation of materials such as Reflection Method, Resonator Method, Resonant Perturbation Method and Planar-Circuit Method. |
