Polymer Technology is an important branch of engineering which deals with the manufacturing, designing and production of polymers. It concerns the mechanical, chemical, thermal and molecular properties of polymers. Polymers are natural or artificial substances that are formed by the unique alignment of monomers or macromolecules, giving them different structures and properties.

Polymer Technology is either offered as a stand-alone course at the undergraduate or postgraduate level or as a specialisation in Chemical Engineering. Polymers have brought a revolution to various fields of engineering such as Textiles, Packaging and also find applications in medicinal devices.  Altogether, Polymer Technology is an exciting branch of engineering for establishing a promising career.

Candidates who finish Polymer Technology can find themselves working for top chemical industries, government organisations such as the Indian Oil Corporation, Indian Institute of Petroleum, various research organisations or educational institutions. They can work as Polymer Engineers, Professors, Research Assistants, Principal Scientists etc. Professionals trained in Polymer Technology or Chemical Engineering are hired by multinational companies as well as oil-exploration agencies, therefore making it a top career choice among students.
